Library Card Sign-Up Month

Don’t have a library card yet? There’s no time like the present! September is Library Card Sign-up Month, and Chillicothe Public Library District (CPLD) is celebrating by partnering with local businesses to endow those cards with even more super powers than usual.

For the month of September, CPLD members can show their library cards at participating businesses to receive special deals, and new members getting a library card this month will also be entered into a drawing for a gift certificate. The library is grateful to the following businesses for their partnership: Castaways, Dairy Queen, Faraway Mercantile, FroSmokes Meatery, Geiger True Value, High 5 Apparel, Lela’s Resale Shoppe #2, Little Land of Candy N’ More, Little Shop of Hoarders, Looking 4 Treasures, McDonald’s, Molly’s Pizzeria, Peggy Says Sew, Picket Fence Foundation, Rosie Acres Bakery, Stems by Allison, and Wheels O’ Time Museum.

After September, your card will continue to offer plenty of other super powers! CPLD cardholders have access not only to thousands of print materials and other media like DVDs, magazines, and CD-Books, but also to quite a few resources you might not expect.

E-books, e-audiobooks, movies, music, magazines, and more are available through the online platforms Libby, Boundless, Hoopla, and Kanopy. Hoopla also offers the Great Courses lecture series, covering a wide variety of topics. Research and career development resources are at your fingertips when you use your library card to access NewsBank, A to Z World Food, the Got Resume Builder tool, and more.

If you are looking for something to do with family or friends, the library offers a large collection of board and video games for check-out. STEAM activities and resources are also available for cardholders of all ages. LEGO Kits, Art Kits, and science activities can be checked out and explored at home.

Want to get out of the house or take a day trip? Use your library card to log in to Explore More Illinois for instant access to free and discounted tickets to museums, science centers, sporting events, zoos, park districts, theaters, and other fun cultural venues across the state.
