You’ll learn to recognize these four mushrooms and a handful more that can be found easily in our area and turned into succulent and nutritious meals.

    Hunter Le Duc has been interested in wild mushrooms since her first foray as a little girl. She was always fascinated by how unusual and diverse the mushrooms were that her father, one of the founding members of the Illinois Mycological Association, would bring home for her mother to cook. In addition to being a member of several mycological societies, Hunter is certified as a Wild Mushroom Expert by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

  • 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm Concert: Larksgrove

    Through an innovative blending of classical with old-time fiddle music, Larksgrove brings its fresh voice to concert halls, dance halls, and even tall ships. Their music has been described as electric, truly original and inventive. It takes listeners from soulful melodies that pluck the heartstrings to toe-tapping fiddle tunes that lift the spirit.

    About the band: EmmaLee Holmes-Hicks (violin) grew up on a farm near Chillicothe, where her first audience was a very attentive flock of sheep. From there, her violin has taken her around the world with orchestras from Brazil to Canada and Europe. Raised in the wooded Berkshires of western Massachusetts, Peter Zay (cello, guitar) cut his musical teeth playing in rock and heavy metal bands while studying classical cello and donning his tux for orchestra concerts. Now living on the East Coast, EmmaLee and Peter perform as the duo Larksgrove, savoring their creative collaboration and the challenge of new styles of music and difficult repertoire.

  • 10:00 am – 11:00 am PAWS to Read

     For kids who love dogs and love to read! Established in 2005 by the Peoria Humane Society, the Paws to Read program helps children develop their literacy skills by reading to specially trained therapy dogs. The children have fun petting a furry friend while improving their reading skills and boosting their self-esteem.

    10 – 10:15 am: meet the dogs;
    10:15 am – 11 am: read to the dogs

    Dog and cat food donations are appreciated, but not required.

    Walk-ins are accepted, but your advance registration will help us know how many volunteers we will need and will guarantee your opportunity to read to a dog. Click the link to register: bit.ly/3uX9G4w or call: 309-274-2719
