Chillicothe Public Library District’s StoryWalk®, in collaboration with the Chillicothe Park District and Owens Design Group Ltd, will be returning to a new location this month. On September 1st, the new StoryWalk® will be featured along the Prairie Trail at Coal Hollow Park (22004 N Yankee Ln, Chillicothe, IL 61523). The entrance will be accessible from the north-west corner of the parking lot off of Illinois Route 29.

The StoryWalk® is a refreshing way for people of all ages to practice literacy skills and healthy exercise habits by walking a short path while following along with a story. Both children and adults can read all 16 panels to finish the story while enjoying the beauty of nature and enhancing health and literacy. The StoryWalk® is free to the public and available to access during Coal Hollow Park hours.

The StoryWalk® for the month of September will feature “Flow, Spin, Grow: Looking for Patterns in Nature,” written by Patchen Barss, illustrated by Todd Stewart, and published by Owlkids. The story encourages children to go outside and observe nature, search for patterns, and ask questions. The gentle illustrations and easy-to-read prose inspires readers to exercise their bodies and critical thinking skills, and encourages people of all ages to interact with and appreciate the natural world.
