January 20th, 2009 Minutes
The regular meeting of the Chillicothe Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order at 6:32 p.m. on January 20, 2009 at the library. Present were: Martha Canopy, President; Patty Audo, Treasurer; Nona Kelley, Secretary; Pat Parr, Trustee; Wed Turner, Trustee and Susan Drissi, Library Director. Absent was Jane Harrison, Vice-President.
The pledge of allegiance was recited.
Communications
- There were no oral or written communications.
Reports
The minutes of the regular meeting of December 18, 2008 were yet to be distributed.
Nona Kelley motioned to accept payment of the bills. The motion was seconded by Patty Audo and approved unanimously.
The recently completed Library Audit was delivered to all board members. Susan Drissi mentioned that no issues were noted, the audit went smoothly, and that the auditors for Buckner, Kneer & Associates were very good to work with. It was also noted that the audit came in under budget.
Committee Reports
- There were no committee reports this month.
Unfinished Business
- Patty Audo motioned that the new library policies related to unattended children and Freedom of Information Act, as initially discussed at the December 2008 meeting, be approved. Wed Turner seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
New Business
- Patty Audo announced that board approval will now be required for any transfers of funds into the corporate account.
- Nona Kelley motioned to approve the transfer of $30,000 from the CEFCU liquidated money market fund to the 1st National Bank checking account for payment of anticipated January and February 2009 bills. Patty Audo seconded the motion and it was approved unanimously.
- Susan Drissi thanked the board for their support during her first year as Library Director.
- Martha Canopy mentioned that a new personal ancestry.com account will soon be added to the computer in the genealogy room. It will be funded by a personal donation from Martha.
- Nona Kelley volunteered to design a low maintenance landscape for the outdoor fountain area.
- Susan Drissi presented a new fund raising opportunity using baskets for use by patrons in the library. Money would be raised from local businesses purchasing advertising which would be displayed on the baskets.
Nona Kelley moved to adjourn at 7:32 p.m. The motion was seconded by Patty Audo and passed unanimously.
